The West coast runs the gamut when it comes to activities, landscapes, entertainment, you name it. But which places cater to all ages and families? Here are some family-friendly destinations on the West Coast that would be ideal for either a much-needed vacation, or a life relocation. 

1. San Ramon, California

San Ramon is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States, located within the San Ramon Valley, and 34 miles east of San Francisco. Also considered one of the best places to live in California overall, San Ramon is a spectacular place to bring up a family. The town has the fourteenth lowest house cost as a percentage of median income. Almost 33 percent of residents are under the age of nineteen, which means that a lot of families with children and teenagers are there already and there is a great opportunity for your kids to be part of a big community. The low unemployment rate and poverty rate are also attractive. As is the crime rate, which is the fifth-lowest in the entire state. 

2. Folsom, California

Folsom is a city in Sacramento County, California, United States. It is commonly known for Folsom Prison, the song “Folsom Prison Blues” as well as for Folsom Lake. This small town also has low housing cost when it comes to the percentage it takes of the overall family income, as well as the fourth lowest poverty rate in the state of California. Folsom’s high school graduation rate is nearly 90 percent, which is impressive not only for the region, but for the country at large. 

3. Hillsboro, Oregon

Hillsboro is the fifth-largest city in the U.S. state of Oregon and is the county seat of Washington County. Considered one of the best overall places to live in Oregon, Hillsboro shines through because of the unique affordability of childcare. 4. Sunnyvale, California

This wonderful town’s most unique attribute is its status as the safest city in America. Crime rates are low, graduation rates are nearly 90%, and its a financially viable area for young families. 

5. Oakland, California

Oakland is a city on the eastside of San Francisco Bay, in California. The bay area is known to be a wonderful place to raise a family, so it should be no surprise to see one of their cities on this list. A major West Coast port city, Oakland is the largest city in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area.” Both scenic and economically stable, this city is attractive to both new, growing, and established families.
